How to Get the Perfect Fake Tan
We might not be close to summer yet but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start planning, especially if you want to get the perfect tan. Okay so not everyone has the time to sit out on the deck or on the beach, waiting for the sun to work its magic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have the perfect fake tan for the upcoming season.
Just remember that you can’t simply apply the lotion and hope for the best; you need to prepare your body and make sure you get the most out of that bottle you just picked up at the store. We’re going to give you a few tips that will help you to get the perfect fake tan and make the best impression when you head out into the wild (the beach).
Tip #1: Start Exfoliating
We don’t mean to freak you out, but your body is full of dead skin and it’s going to fall off eventually. If you simply put your tan formula over the dead skin, it’s going to fall off right along with it and probably leave you with very uneven coverage. To solve this problem you need to exfoliate first, and we strongly recommend hot water and a loofah. Once you finish exfoliating, finish up your shower with cold water to close up your pores(they open up under hot water).
Tip #2: Hydrate a Little
If you’re like most people, then you have dry spots across your skin that soak up more color than you would like and this can also lead to an uneven tan. Some of the most common dry spots will include:
You can’t help nature but you can temporarily offset the effects by using moisturizer and creating a barrier between your skin and the self-tanning solution.
Tip #3: Use a Tanning Mitt
People often make the mistake of applying their self-tanner with their hand, and you know what? Your hand is pretty uneven. In addition to that, you still have pores that are going to absorb the product whether you like it or not. If you want to be more effective, use a tanning mitt for smoother, more flawless coverage.
Tip #4: Wipe it Up!
Once again, you want to make sure that you prevent an uneven tan, and that means wiping up the excess. You can use oil-free wipes to remove any excess self-tanner from your skin, especially if you have any around your cuticles.
Tip #5: Use your Hairdryer
Finally, if you want to dry the formula a little (or a lot) faster, then it would be a good idea to make use of your hair dryer. This is a great way to dry the formula and get you on your way faster.
Getting the perfect spray tan doesn’t have to be hard, though we will admit that it’s going to take a bit of practice. Don’t worry; if you follow the tips we’ve outlined above, it won’t be too long before you’re ready for summer, even if it’s a way off.
