During the 1930s, backless one-piece suits were all the rage, drastically transforming swimsuit styles until the 1940s, when the halter-top swimsuit promoted a style similar to a corset. In 1946, a French engineer by the name of Louis R‚àö¬©ard and fashion designer Jacques Heim took a hold of such inspiration and debuted what we know today as the “bikini”. A number of women that chose to not bare a large amount of skin opted for a one-piece, but this new style shared a new way to exude confidence and sex appeal. From the 1960s through the 1980s, a transformation of high-waisted bottoms and coverage without any restrictions shaped every curve of the female figure. A trend of high-waisted bottoms and bikini tops with the option of adjustable straps carried out from the eighties to the early 1990s allowing the current era to achieve ultimate exposure.
