For many who are advocates of a plant-based diet, new research suggests the Mediterranean diet will help halt memory decline and attention span.
For years, the Mediterranean diet has been praised by doctors for improving heart and brain health. And now a new study shows that by adding olive oil and nuts to your diet, you can halt decline in memory and thinking even more than a low fat diet. This new study involved 447 men and women aged 67 years on average. Four years later, no dementia cases were found in the study follow up. This study was led by Dr. Emilio Ros of the Institut d’Investigacions Biomediques August Pi Sunyer Hospital Clinic, Barcelona. Dr. Ros stated, “Our results suggest that in an older population, a Mediterranean diet supplemented with olive oil or nuts may counter-act age-related cognitive decline.”
Yet but another reason to switch to a healthy, plant-based Mediterranean diet!
