Wake Up With Ponderosa Coffee

This weekend I met with several people for a mini-getaway. By coincidence, I was given Ponderosa coffee earlier and thought it would be a perfect breakfast addition for my friends.  Ponderosa Coffee is a small micro-roaster based in San Diego, CA. Because they are a boutique micro-roaster, they roast coffee in small batches controlled by a  Renegade Roaster. This allows them to bring out the best characteristics of each of the coffee beans they offer for the best tasting cup of coffee.   

I tried a pound of “It’s A New Day” blend.  As I opened the bag, I enhaled deeply to smell a wonderful, rich, semi-chocolate scent that filled the air.  I made a full pot for breakfast. We all agreed that it had a nice, bold, rotund flavor.  It was smooth and satisfying.  For those who want their java extra dark, I recommend adding another ½ teaspoon per cup. 

“It’s A New Day” reminded me a lot of the coffee I drank each morning in Costa Rica earlier this year. It had that same smoothness without a hint of bitter.  A great way to start my day!
