Do YOU Want a Barbie Vagina?

Demand for designer “Barbie” vagina continues to soar.

As strange as it may sound, the worldwide desire for a designer vagina has increased by almost 50% in one year and is now a new trend when it comes to cosmetic surgery. That’s right, getting a designer vagina is one of the most desired cosmetic procedures right now.

Labiaplasty, as this procedure is known, is a surgery that reduces the size of the labia minora. The labia minora are the flaps of skin that are located on either side of the vaginal opening. Because the inner lips are trimmed back, many refer to this as getting a “Barbie” vagina in reference to the famous doll.

Why do some women want this procedure? Some don’t like to look of their labia even though it is completely normal to have noticeable folds of skin around a vaginal opening. On occasion, they want this procedure because the labia can cause them discomfort. It is also important to note that even after the surgery there is no guarantee that a woman will like her labia more or will feel better about her body. But, this is still an extremely popular surgery with almost 100,000 women getting labiaplasty in 2015.

Many have said that porn has been the reason why many women choose to have labiaplasty as they compare their labias to other women. While in fact, there are many different shapes, sizes and colors of labia that are all normal. Also, exact symmetry in labias is extremely rare. Most women have one side that is larger than the other. And when it comes to color, some are pink, brown, red, or purple due to skin tone and your vein color. If someone has shamed you about your labia, then they need to educate themselves on the reality of the female body.

Currently, breast augmentation is still the most popular cosmetic procedure followed by liposuction, eyelid surgery, and nose jobs.

What do you think? Is labiaplasty for YOU?
