What do you think of beauty’s newest trend, feathered brows?
Seriously folks, just when you think you’ve seen it all, here comes the newest Instagram trend, feathered brows. When I first saw them, I thought they looked like caterpillars. “Weird” is an understatement, to say the least.
We all know that brows have been big for the past few years. And even eyebrow maven, Anastasia, said that the eyebrows are frames for the face. And indeed this is true. A well-shaped eyebrow can make all of the difference when it comes to balance and symmetry. But when did a middle-parted eyebrow become the rage?
Stella Sironin is a makeup artist from Finland. Her friend, Leevi, brushed her brows into feathers simply as a joke. They both laughed and Stella then posted a photo on Instagram with the caption “new brow trend”. She explained, “I thought it was really creative, something fun that people could be inspired by…the caption was a joke, but the makeup was not, I was feeling it!”
What happened next has now been referred to as “Feathergate”. Why? She said, “People got really offended. I started getting hate comments. Most of the creative makeup people knew this was something fun for editorials, runways, not something you’d wear outside every day. The rest of the people seemed to take it really seriously.”
Then, as a surprise to all, people actually started emulating feathered brows! And now this look has become the newest Instagram sensation! What does Sironen recommend for brows? She said to brush them upwards for a bushy look. She also encourages people to experiment with their looks and don’t be afraid to try something new every once in a while.
What does she say in response to the negative comments? She said, “It’s just eyebrows, people. Chill out.”
