Playmate who body-shamed older woman might still go to jail.
You might remember when former Playboy Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers, posted images of an elderly women at her gym naked without her consent. She took a photo of the 71-year old woman without clothing. This woman was changing after her workout routine in the locker room of her gym. Mathers then posted the image to her Snapchat account with the caption, “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either”.
Mathers was charged with criminal invasion of privacy and pleaded no contest. She is supposed to complete 240 hours of community service as punishment. However, when she appeared in court on Friday, she had completed only 54 hours to date. She has to complete the total 240 hours by January 17th, the next time she is due to appear in court. And failure to do so could lead to Mathers serving the full 45 days in jail.
Her plea deal included 30 days of graffiti removal and probation for 36 months. Her plea bargain meant that Mathers did not admit guilt, however it is recorded as a conviction.
Mathers said that she meant to send the image to a friend and she accidentally posted it publicly. This caused outrage and anger among many as they asked the question, “Does Dani think it is okay to bully in private among her friends as long as she didn’t do it in public?”
And as a result, she lost work including her gig as a radio show host in addition to modeling jobs.
What do YOU think? Should Mathers serve jail time if she doesn’t complete her 240 hours of community service by early next year? Or should she be let off the hook?
