Cooking with Denim

A quaint little apron made of an old pair of blue jeans and some fabric remnants. As American as Apple Pie I tell ya!

I’m going to show you how to make one of the cutest aprons I’ve ever seen! Now I don’t have much experience in the kitchen but I do have experience with fun, quick and cute DIY projects so I feel qualified enough to show you the recipe for this denim apron. Make this apron for yourself or make it as a gift to give to a friend you know is a good cook and drop a subtle hint you want to taste test their cooking (ahem Catherine….)! Haha 🙂 All you need is an old pair of jeans (make sure the waist fits snug), some fabric remnants, and a few items to decorate the front of your apron with. I’m telling you this thing is not only uber cute but functional too. Bon Appetite!

My passion and love for fashion and all things femme started at a very young age. Of course young girls always have someone to look up to growing up and for me (as silly as it may sound) it was my grandmother! I’m telling you this woman was the ultimate fashionista. So much in fact that I still have on at least one piece of hers on everytime I leave the house. You’ll come to notice that I have an endless passion for all things vintage and now you’ll understand why! My fashion sense and style was also heavily influenced by the years of modeling I did in my teens growing up. I frequented NYC and also travelled to Japan to pursue a career in the industry. Although I eventually chose academia over the glamour of the modeling industry the fashion tips and advice that I took away from that industry are invaluable. That brings me to where I am today! A recent graduate of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, I am currently working on my swimwear line “Lela Pearce” and writing for my personal blog Blonde and Hound as well as contributing as Fashion Editor for Viva Glam Magazine! I am very excited and honored to be sharing my personal fashion advice, tips, and picks with you through Viva Glam Magazine. In the words of the infamous Coco Chanel, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same”. I hope Viva Glam Magazine can help encourage new looks and ideas for your personal style!
