Does Buying “Skinny Clothes” Work?

Does Buying “Skinny Clothes” Work? Let’s take a look!

Buying Skinny Clothes

Not everyone likes to exercise, and in fact, when most of us get around to it, it’s to complete a goal. Let’s face it, people who are naturally skinny don’t usually hop out of bed at six o’clock in the morning so they can jog. Those people know they’re skinny and quite frankly they can do whatever they want. For the rest of us mortals however, it’s important to keep up with a proper diet and exercise routine.

Getting down to the size you want can be a challenge, but there are several ways that you can motivate yourself. One of the most common methods of doing so is to purchase ‘skinny clothes’, sometimes referred to as a ‘goal outfit’. In other words, it’s an outfit that you don’t quite fit into yet, but hope that you will someday.

It’s Not a New Idea

I’ve actually seen this before, even though I’ve never done it myself; a friend of mine purchased a pair of jeans for herself that were about three sizes smaller than the ones she wore, and she had hung them on her wall in the hopes of actually getting herself down to that size. At some point, I know that it worked, but I would caution everyone against certain practices associated with this measure.

Don’t Buy Skinny Clothes that are Way too Small

You want to lose weight and having a goal outfit is a great idea, but sometimes you can take it way too far. If you are a size 2x, for example, you don’t want to buy a size 5 shirt as your goal. This is unrealistic and will only serve to lower your morale – you may even stop your diet and exercise routine altogether, believing that you could never possibly reach your goal. Start with a dress a few sizes smaller than you are now, and work your way down the goal dresses to that size 5 (or whatever it may be) goal.

Keep Track of your Progress

If you continue on the right path, logic dictates that you’re going to fit into your goal outfit eventually, but you’re going to need to keep track of your progress as best you can. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is failing to chart the progress, and therefore having no idea where you are in terms of meeting your goal.

Seriously, you need to know, especially if you plan to reach that goal. At some point you might decide that you are making absolutely no progress and fall back on your original habits – this is especially true if you find that you are STILL not fitting into that goal outfit. Don’t let this happen to you.

Buying skinny clothe CAN work, but you need to keep track of your progress and most importantly, make sure that you don’t have unrealistic expectations of yourself. Follow these guidelines and you might find that you fit into that outfit sooner than you think.
