Britney Spears Launches ‘Prerogative’, a Gender-Neutral Fragrance

Oops, she did it again! The forever pop princess, Britney Spears, is back in the fragrance biz. The singer who has been releasing several perfumes since the early 2000s is now ready to add a new one called “Prerogative” to her line, and this one comes with a twist: it’s a gender-neutral fragrance!

Spears teased the release on Monday when she posted on Instagram a video teaser for her new perfume, named after her cover of the iconic Bobby Brown song. In the caption she wrote Prerogative. A fragrance for all. 📹 #MyPrerogative,” giving her fans a hint of what was to come.

According to US Weekly, the fragrance will come in a maroon bottle, which is a great color for all gender identities. The video shows a dancing Spears showing her lingerie amongst flashes, which resembles the style of her video for the popular song.

Spears also spoke to People about her new scent and said “the fragrance is really good, but the name is very cool because it’s empowering. It’s [about saying], ‘I’m going to what I want to do and be happy in that moment and not worry about what people think.’”

She added, “it’s [about] saying, ‘This is what I’m going to do without — any judgments.’”

According to a press release, the perfume has “bold notes of pink pepper, espresso foam, and amberwood” and fans have already sang the praises of the unisex angle of the fragrance all over social media.

The “Lucky” singer also talked in the interview about how her perception of herself, given her public image persona, has change over the years. “I feel the prettiest when I am alone, I have no makeup on and I have a book in my hand.”

The pop culture icon has been working the perfume business since 2004 with the launch of Curious, a scent that set records as the largest fragrance debut in history, making $12 million dollars after its release. After that, Spears has released 21 fragrances in total, with My Prerogative being her 22nd — and the first one that has been marketed towards men too.

So, now all of her fans, no matter their gender, can try the new scent that the iconic popstar has made for them!
