Blue Collar Work Her

GUNAS New York

This is something I discovered when re-working a mens shirt to create a blazer. I cut the collar out of the shirt, looked at it and had an epiphany (okay maybe epiphany is being bit dramatic) but I had an idea……what if I used this collar as a necklace or as a layer to show off another necklace? So being the lover of unique fashion that I am I tried it out……wearing it once with a brooch and another time with a necklace. The response to this simple thing was overwhelming! You would have thought I was Albert Einstein (okay so may a bit over the top again) but it did get rave reviews 🙂 So here you are! Just give it a try!

My passion and love for fashion and all things femme started at a very young age. Of course young girls always have someone to look up to growing up and for me (as silly as it may sound) it was my grandmother! I’m telling you this woman was the ultimate fashionista. So much in fact that I still have on at least one piece of hers on everytime I leave the house. You’ll come to notice that I have an endless passion for all things vintage and now you’ll understand why! My fashion sense and style was also heavily influenced by the years of modeling I did in my teens growing up. I frequented NYC and also travelled to Japan to pursue a career in the industry. Although I eventually chose academia over the glamour of the modeling industry the fashion tips and advice that I took away from that industry are invaluable. That brings me to where I am today! A recent graduate of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, I am currently working on my swimwear line “Lela Pearce” and writing for my personal blog Blonde and Hound as well as contributing as Fashion Editor for Viva Glam Magazine! I am very excited and honored to be sharing my personal fashion advice, tips, and picks with you through Viva Glam Magazine. In the words of the infamous Coco Chanel, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same”. I hope Viva Glam Magazine can help encourage new looks and ideas for your personal style!
