Best Destinations for a Last-Minute Holiday Trip

It’s not too late to book a holiday trip this year!

Although it might be hard to believe, the holidays are already upon us! With Christmas around the corner, you might think it’s already too late to book a last-minute holiday trip.  But think again, because now is one of the best times to book a holiday trip out of town!

Whereas many people are traveling to visit friends and family, you might just want a quick jaunt out of town just to get away, experience something new, or to revitalize.  And believe it or not, you can still do this easily even though it is last minute.

Books an Airbnb a Hour Away

One of the best ways to get out of town is by going someplace close to where you live. Sometimes just getting out of your own house will make you feel worlds away from the stress of your daily life. Going somewhere close by is often less expensive than traveling far away. There are many houses that you can rent even a day or two ahead of your scheduled arrival!

Book the Unlikely Destination

Another way to get out of town for the holidays is to choose a place where not many people go during Thanksgiving or Christmas. The obvious places where EVERYONE goes to are beach destinations, magical major cities, and winter wonderlands. We recommend avoiding the following: Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, Miami, Colorado, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe, Ottawa, and Montreal. However, these destinations will still be quite magical, but less crowded: Halifax, Austin, Portland, and Seattle — essentially, any place cold that’s not booked with winter activities, or any place warm that’s not overbooked with guests getting away from the cold.

Also, don’t forget to check places like Groupon or travel sites like Travelocity and Expedia for last minute travel deals! If you have no place in particular that you just have to go to, you just might be surprised at the deals you can get waiting last minute. So, if you don’t have a specific place in mind, this might be the route for you.

Wherever you choose to go, remember, just as long as you are having a good time, that is all that really matters.
