Asha Dahya is not your average run of the mill woman. Asha is a known host, blogger and content creator. Originally from Australia, Asha is based in Los Angeles and over the past decade has worked for networks such as Fox, MTV, Disney, Nickelodeon, MSN.com, Myspace.com, the CW, TV Guide Network, ABC, and Bitesize TV. THE MIND BEHIND THE MAGIC

  1. So tell me about your background Asha.

I was born in the UK, raised & educated in Australia (I have a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in film & Journalism) and have been living in Los Angeles for 7 years. I have worked in TV for 11 years. I am indian by ethnicity.

  1. When did you begin blogging?

I began blogging in 2012.

  1. Tell me what Girl Talk HQ is all about.

GTHQ is a daily women’s media website dedicated to sharing only positive, inspiring and empowering content.

  1. What made you want to create Girl Talk HQ, what was your inspiration?

I was fed up with the majority of websites aimed at young women. It was either superficial content, or negative, bitchy content. I wanted to create something that had passion, meaning and depth behind it. I felt it was a shame that big media companies only thought of women as people who like fashion and gossip, when we are interested in so much more than just that.

  1. How fast is Girl Talk HQ growing?

Over the past few months we have almost tripled our monthly readership! Our social media is slowly growing but our main focus is to increase website stats.

  1. Your headline is: A Daily News Blog Dedicated To Female Empowerment & Inspiration For Millennial Women, why do you feel Women’s Empowerment is important?

I think it is important to be reminded daily of the good that is in the world, and for women to encourage each other. We live in a media-obsessed culture, and I figure why not use that communication vehicle for something good?

  1. I  saw on your website: “There is one main difference between us and all other similar sites: we ONLY focus on positive news.” Tell me more.

You can go to 1000s of websites to find negativity, it is all around us, even on TV. Ever since I made the conscious decision to only focus on positive media thinking it wouldn’t attract as many people, I have been overwhelmed with the response I have been getting from women who are also desperate for this type of content.

  1. What are some of your key areas of content Girl Talk HQ  focuses on?

Social activism, body image, the representation of women in industries such as STEM, politics, fashion & others, how the media and entertainment portrays women, and sharing everyday women’s stories of triumph.

  1. Who creates the content we see?

I write a lot, as do various marketing companies and sponsors who want to share content on a site like ours, and then we also have a team of guest bloggers who submit guest posts.
