How do you see the roles of women shifting since you first came onto the scene?
In my time I’ve seen it shifting in good ways. There are more female writers, more female driven shows, but we still have a ways to go.
Since you think there is no road map on how to do a career today, what advice do you give young women starting out in comedy?
I believe that every artist has their own path, but if you love it you will find a way. The information that is so readily available to people today was not when I was starting out. If you are passionate about something then you will seek out a way to make it happen.
How important is the network you surround yourself with in getting where you want to go?
It’s very important to have people around you that support you and believe in you. But that doesn’t say that if you don’t have it, you can’t still achieve your dreams.
